Alan Wake 2 will offer “ton” Laura Remedy

Alan Wake 2 will finally be released next month, and this time the exhausted author will not be one. In Alan Wake 2 there are two game characters – Alan himself and FBI agent Saga Anderson. This led to some fears that Alan may have been replaced from his own game, but it seems that these fears are largely unfounded.

In a new interview, the creative director of Remedy Sam Lake is deepening into the decision to introduce a second character. The idea is not to get away from Alan or the history of the series, but quite the opposite. Remedy is now promoting a full -fledged interconnected universe and seeks to use the mass of Laura and storylines from past games, such as original Alan Wake and Control. However, this information landfill can scare, so part of the game for the saga is designed to be less complicated and less than triple to attract new players. In other words, the plan is to capture them with a more familiar story about a serial killer, and then hit from the brain light.

“Although Alan Wake 2 is a continuation of Alan Wake, it is also the experience of Remedy Connected University. So this is connected not only with Alan Wake, but also with Control. Given all this, it is very important for us that it is easy to access it to new players who have never played Remedy games before. The game begins with the fact that the FBI agents come to a small town in Washington to investigate a series of ritual killings – in fact, serial killers. This is what is familiar to everyone, and it seemed to us that this is an ideal starting point in order to introduce new players and our fans to this game. At the same time, fans of our previous games are very, very important for us, and we want to continue to tell stories based on a rich foundation provided by Remedy Connected Universe. So, we involve everyone, and the story is quite independent so that everyone can get carried away with it and understand it. For returning fans there is a ton of Laura, a ton of research, a ton of those that began in the Alan Wake M Control, which we will pick up and move on ”.

Lake also delved into some inspiration sources for Alan Wake 2. Obviously, Stephen King and David Lynch remain fundamental to the series, but each of the two parts of the game is inspired by different things. Part of the game for the saga is influenced by films about serial killers, such as “Silence of the lamb”, as well as Folk-Horror, such as “reincarnation”, “solstice” and “witch”. Meanwhile, half of the history of Alan is inspired by city thrillers, such as “seven”, and even films that are not related to horrors, such as “taxi driver” and “beginning”.
